lady boss

there's a lot of talk about how women make really bad bosses. I have to disagree... I've had 4 supervisors over the last 22 months and 2 of them have been women. I have loved working for both of them. they were both thoroughly professional, extremely demanding and extremely fair.
Unlike the popular myth that women hate to see other women in leadership roles, both of them encouraged more girls in the team to take up leadership roles. This does not mean that all women are like that. it's just that i'm telling you that there a re very nice women who make great bosses and reading about them might just open your mind a little. both these women have been great role models and i hope to be like them someday too. The amount of positive energy that they have, the incredible vibe that they give out is amazing.

yea... I learnt most of what I know today by my lady boss in my very first year...
Unfortunately, from what I have seen, most men i have seen till date have taken pretty badly to lady bosses... Very few welcome working with a lady boss...

I don't think any bosses will become good or bad just because they are men or women :)
Unfortunately women do face prejudices, we all hear about bad women drivers, bad women bosses ...all stereotypes.

@ihm
There is just so much prejudice against women who are in high positions...

Oh Certainly!!!! I have had the best experiences with lady bosses! And they are certainly fair.. My team used to say the same about me too.. That lady bosses certainly are fair and more productive in a lot of ways..

It irritates me so much to see this kind of prejudice.. And yes, women face a lot more prejudice as they move up the corporate ladder.. A man rising up is not questioned as much as a woman rising up the ladder... Great Post - blogrolling you!

Totally agree! I've worked under a female boss for the past 1.5 years and have learnt so much while having a lot of fun too.

@ihm I disagree. I think women make better bosses than men. They are better equipped to handle crises and unprecedented situations, they are more sensitive to their subordinate's problems.

For the lack of a better expression, I think a "woman's perspective" counts a lot - they see things differently and hence add a lot to the team.
